Peace Lodge Annual Charity Walk

Service is in Our DNA

Our Charitable Works

From our annual charity walk to supporting families in need, giving back to our community is at the very heart of Peace Lodge.

Charity: The First Principle

Service is the focus of a Freemason's First Degree ceremony and its importance is the first lesson a newly made Freemason learns. At Peace Lodge, we take this principle seriously — contributing our time, energy, and resources to causes that make a real difference in people's lives across Teesside and beyond.

Flagship Event

The Annual Charity Walk

Established in 1998 by W.Bro John Hemy, our Annual Charity Walk has become one of Peace Lodge's most cherished traditions. Each summer, brethren, their families, and friends come together to walk a scenic route through the beautiful Yorkshire countryside, raising money for local charities.

Over 25 years, the walk has raised thousands of pounds for causes close to our hearts. Routes have included some of Yorkshire's most stunning landscapes, from the North York Moors to historic abbey ruins.

The 2023 walk celebrated its 25th anniversary with a memorable circular route from Helmsley to Rievaulx Abbey — a fitting tribute to a quarter-century of generosity and fellowship.

How We Give Back

Our charitable work operates at multiple levels — from supporting individual brethren to contributing to national initiatives.

Peace Lodge Benevolent Fund

Our registered charity (No. 208192) provides support to distressed brethren, their widows, and children. We believe no brother should face hardship alone.

Local Community Support

Through our annual charity walk and other fundraising events, we raise money for local charities and community organisations across Teesside.

Masonic Charitable Foundation

We contribute to the MCF, the Freemasons' national charity, which donates over £52 million annually to masonic and non-masonic causes across England and Wales.
